On the 3rd July, Chinese agrochemical enterprise Lier Chemical announced the completion of the annual 1,000-ton glufosinate technical project, which is now put under trial production. The launch of the project increases the glufosinate capacity of Lier Chemical to 1,600 tons with actual production volume to surpass the capacity of China’s glufosinate old brand Zhejiang Yongnong.
If the 1,000-ton capacity should be fully reached this year, Lier Chemical will achieve a huge benefit. When the 600-ton glufosinate project was commissioned last year, although capacity was fully reached in the 2nd half of 2014, it contributed more than 90% profit of Lier Chemical in 2014.
The higher gross profit of glufosinate looks to be obviously the reason for Lier Chemical’s capacity extension. The company has planned a 1,000-ton capacity in Mianyang, to be followed by another 2,000-ton in Guang’an which is estimated to be commissioned in 2016. At that time the company’s total glufosinate capacity will reach 3,600 tons. An analysis shows that this will bring about sales income of over Yuan 1 billion, which will also place the company in an important position in the glufosinate market.
Lier Chemical has the largest chlorinated pyridine pesticide technical and formulation production capacity in China, with sales having reached Yuan 1.31 billion in 2014.
