The National Service of Plant and Seed Health and Quality of Paraguay (Senave) launched this week a new system to control and supervise agrochemicals. The project is aimed to regulate phytosanitary products as well as fertilizers, and was introduced at a stand of Paraguay's Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock at the Expo 2015 held in the country.
The "Project of Control and Supervision" complements the system of seed enforcement, which was already launched last year, and anticipates another system under development covering products plant.
The initiative of the system is to meet the need to monitor agricultural inputs and ensure the accuracy of the information presented for both registration and for the import of products, thus providing an enabling environment for trade of agrochemicals stage by encouraging competition and formally fighting illegal trade, which causes much damage to the country.
The new control system will be implemented in two stages. The first includes phytosanitary formulated products, fertilizers, technical grade, raw materials, mixtures, derivatives, and imports, which will take place until the end of the year.
The second stage includes fractionated and synthesized products, as well as distribution procedures, trade, formulation, fabrication, exports and sales to final consumer. This would work starting in the first quarter of 2016.
This control system will be implemented of depuration of current agrochemicals registries, as well as a restructuring Evaluation Committee attributed to this. One of the changes is the mandatory use of safety adhesive labels with a unique numeric code which will allow the identification of products throughout a system connected to Senave's database.
