Syngenta Bioline is adding new packaging options to its unique Controlled Release System (CRS) with mini sachets on a stick for Amblyline™ cu and Swirskiline™ as biological control agents. This efficient and labor-saving packaging is ideal for pest prevention and control early in propagation, at sticking or point of seeding, to stop thrips, whitefly and broadmite populations, before they grow into harder-to-control adults. Mini sachets have water-resistant packaging to minimize the effects of rain and irrigation and the stick secures them in place to reduce movement.
“Mini sachets on a stick provide a consistent release of beneficial mites over a longer time period versus broadcast applications,” says Ronald Valentin, technical lead, Syngenta Bioline. “The sachets produce mites for six to eight weeks, depending on climate conditions, and can be applied as early as possible in propagation, which is the most critical time in plant development.”
Mini sachets, which are also available with a hanger, quickly distribute beneficial mites over plants to minimize the development of harmful thrips, spider mites and broadmites. Applying sachets is quick and efficient, whether it be to a propagation tray or young vegetable plant, pot (six-inch or larger), hanging basket or shuttle tray. In addition to saving labor time, only one sachet is needed per tray, pot or hanging basket for effective protection.
Syngenta has a rich history of packaging innovations:
• CRS sachets were first developed by Syngenta in 1991 to allow for continued emergence and better protection.
• Gemini sachets were created for crops watered by overhead irrigation, as the release holes are inside the folded, waterproof packaging.
• Bugline™ delivery system was developed to offer controlled release and reduced labor costs because of its simple application process.
• Mini sachets with a hanger were introduced in 2009 for hanging baskets or other plants that required an individual sachet.
Amblyline stick is now available and Swirskiline stick will be available in August 2015.
