On the 3rd June, a delegation organized by Sipcam consisting of its regional partners in China arrived in Korea, having visited Kyung Nong Corporation, where a site tour of the labor-saving herbicide was conducted and an agreement was signed with Summit Agro Korea Ltd. on the joint development of tailored labor-saving herbicide for supply to Chinese market.
There is a similarity between China and Korea in respect of agricultural production; both countries are experiencing the issue of aged rural population. Therefore the relatively advanced labor-saving pesticide technology is a good reference to China. So far the use of labor-saving herbicide in Korea accounts for 500,000 hectares. In the paddy rice herbicide application, the use of labor-saving herbicide has reached around 50%. Through the visit, Sipcam has identified the weakness of China’s pesticide application and orientation of future development, believing that labor-saving pesticide will be very promising in the future.
At present China is promoting its fertilizer and pesticide zero growth initiative, for which the cooperation between Sipcam and Summit Agro Korea will be of great significance. After the new product is developed and put into use, this labor-saving, high-efficient and environment-friendly technology will enable China to move toward a new beginning of the crop practices.
