FMC has introduced Kraft (abamectin), an acaricide and insecticide, as part of its new portfolio for Brazil. The company made this announcement on May 24, when the National Coffee Day is celebrated in the country.
According to FMC's marketing manager, Flavio Irokawa, Kraft is indicated to control the spotted spider mit (Tetranychus urticae) and the Coffee Leaf Miner. "The differential of Kraft is two times more concentrated than the technologies in the market," affirmed Irokawa.
As part of its portfolio, FMC also introduced the fungicide Rovral and four insecticides: Nufos, Warrant, Fentrol and Wide, all designed to control the Coffee Leaf Miner. "The complete portfolio can be added to the combined solution of plant nutrition, which contributes to a higher availability of soil nutrients and stimulates vegetation growth," explains Irokawa.
USDA recently released data estimating that the country will produce 52.40 million bags of coffee in the harvest 15/16, with a significant growth comparing to the same period (14/15), with the harvest of 51.2 million bags. Besides this, Brazil is also the largest producer and one of the largest coffee exporters. "We see great opportunities in the coffee market. Now we can heed the grower in all its demands and contribute to its crop with inputs at any time of planting." Irokawa reinforces the importance of the market for the company.
With the acquisition of Danish agchem company Cheminova, the company will be presenting new solutions that integrate full management to control diseases and pests for the crop as fungicides, insecticides, herbicides, additives and specialty fertilizers that may also contribute to the productivity.
