Sumitomo Chemical's Health & Crop Sciences sales up 12% in the first nine-month of FY 2014

Sales of Sumitomo Chemical’s Health & Crop Sciences section sales for the FY2014 ended March 31, 2015, were ¥362,404 million ($3,015.8 million), up 10.8% year-on-year. Operating income increased by 49% to ¥56,906 million($473.5 million) .Health & Crop Sciences segment includes crop protection chemicals, fertilizers, feed additives, household and public hygiene insecticides, and active pharmaceutical ingredients and intermediates.

Sales of the feed additive methionine grew due to a recovery in market prices. In the area of crop protection chemicals, shipments decreased in Japan due mainly to the effects of the consumption tax increase, while shipments rose in overseas markets due to expanded sales.
