Tessenderlo Group announced on May 4th that its business unit Tessenderlo Kerley International will make an investment in France. Upon receiving the necessary permits, it will begin construction of a Thio-Sul® (ammonium thio-sulphate / ATS) manufacturing plant at Borealis’ Grand Quevilly site in Rouen, France.
This investment is in line with the execution of Tessenderlo Group’s strategy, and responds to the increased demand from the European market for liquid fertilizer solutions complementing sulfur nutrition and limiting nitrogen losses. Thio-Sul® is the globally leading brand, being used as a fertilizer for broad-acre crops and for arboricultural and vegetable crop cultivation.
By building and operating this plant, which will be located in Rouen and integrated with Borealis’ ammonia supply, Tessenderlo Kerley International is making a strategic investment in its market position.
For the past years, the company has been importing Thio-Sul® for its European customers from the USA. This new facility will enhance the leading position of Tessenderlo Kerley International in the growing European market, through improved proximity to end customers.
This announcement follows another recent decision of Tessenderlo Group to also invest in the construction of a Thio-Sul® plant in East Dubuque, Illinois (USA). Both new plants will allow to further strengthen the position of Tessenderlo Group in the Agro business.
