Syngenta Canada Inc. recently announced the registration and launch of its first MG000 series soybean variety in the NK® seed portfolio, offering growers in short-season geographies the opportunity to broaden their crop rotation and take advantage of an expanding soybean market.
S0009-M2 is a high-yielding, Genuity® Roundup Ready 2 Yield® soybean variety with a 2275 CHU rating. This variety offers a very good disease package that includes the Rps6 gene for Phytophthora root rot field tolerance, as well as very good white mold and iron deficiency chlorosis (IDC) resistance. Limited seed quantities will be available for planting in 2016.
“The registration of S0009-M2 means Syngenta can now offer growers NK brand soybean varieties across every maturity group in Canada - a major milestone for our breeding program,” explains Don McClure, Soybean Breeding Project Lead, for Syngenta Canada. “S0009-M2 was developed and tested in Canada and includes an excellent agronomic package to support the production of a successful soybean crop.”
With over 40 years of proprietary soybean breeding experience and access to one of the industry’s largest and most advanced germplasm pools, Syngenta is leveraging its soybean breeding knowledge and expertise to deliver a complete line of soybean varieties for the Canadian market.
“As we have seen with our other early-maturing soybean varieties, the demand for these products is quickly accelerating. Syngenta is committed to meeting this need, providing growers with the seed options to produce a profitable crop,” concludes Greg Good, Corn and Soybean Product Lead with Syngenta Canada.
