The Brazilian Agricultural Research Company (Embrapa) and the Technological Center for Agricultural Research (CTPA) launched five cultivars for soybeans contained the technology Intacta RR2 PRO™: BRS 6970IPRO, BRS 7170IPRO, BRS 7270IPRO, BRS 7470IPRO, BRS 7570IPRO. The seeds were especially developed for central parts of Brazil.

The new cultivars have resistance to the glyphosate herbicide, for weeds management. They have also the toxin Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt), which helps to control some caterpillars.

"The cultivars will give great contributions for recommended regions, mainly because of the productive potential, stability, and sanitary. We have delivered to the society varieties that are highly competitive, " says researcher Roberto Kazuhiko Zito of Embrapa Soja (Londrina, Paraná).

According to the Product and Markets Manager at Embrapa, Alessandro Cruvinel, besides the sanity and stability, five other cultivars Intacta RR2 PRO™ presented a superior performance compared to other material in the market with several areas producing 75 bags per hectare (66.8 bushels per acre).

André Schwening, CEO at Cereal Ouro, a company that has planted BRS 7270IPRO and BRS 7570IPRO, approved the new cultivars yields of the 2014/2015 season. "They are comparable with the best materials we've used with the same technology. Even with a planting delay and strong drought in January, we are very satisfied with the results. At the first harvest, we have achieved 64.8 bags per hectare in an area of 112 hectares with the RS 7270IPRO, and 66.3 bags per hectare in a 42 hectares area with BRS 7570IPRO".

The CTPA informed the company that the producers who planted BRS 7270IPRO reached yields of 55 bags per hectare, against 52 bags per hectare of productivity with a cultivar that belongs to other company, in the same field, facing the atypical drought condition of Goiás.

For the production and research manager at CTPA, José Nunes, the differential of the launches is higher productivity, stability on production, resistance to diseases such as nematode and a development cycle that favors the second corn crop. The new cultivars were delivered to 15 producers in the central region of Brazil during the 2014/2015 crop. The seeds will be available in the next months for the planting of the coming crop.
