EU grain area forecasted to dip by 0.6% in 2015qrcode

European grain planting area is forecasted to dip by 0.6% to 62.8 million ha in 2015, according to the European Union trade association, Coceral.

Grain planting area in EU member states is projected to drop slightly by 0.6% to some 60.3 million ha in 2015, and non-EU countries, including Serbia, Bosnia, FYROM and Albania, are expected to plant about 2.5 million ha grains. Soft wheat planted area in the EU is forecasted to decrease by about 1.3% to around 24.9 million ha. Barley is expected to increase by 0.3% to some 12.4 million ha.

Oilseeds planted area in EU member states is forecasted to fall by 1.8% to around 11.7 million ha in 2015, while soybean planting area is expected to grow by 19.3% to 858 thousand ha. Non-EU countries,only including Serbia, Bosnia, FYROM,are forecasted to plant 390 thousand ha oilseeds crops.
