DuPont Pioneer has received an official release to test at the natural environment two new varieties of its genetically-modified organisms. In its latest meeting, the National Technical Commission of Biosecurity (CTNBio) release one corn cultivar and a soybean cultivar - both with resistance to insects and tolerance towards herbicides.
The corn cultivar 0088-CRN-BR-2014” (01200.003601/2014-94) is resistant to insects and tolerant to herbicides which contain the following events: DAS-01507-1, SYN-IR162-4 x DAS-01507-1, SYN-IR162-4 x DAS-01507-1 x MON-00603-6, MON-00810-6 x DAS-01507-1, SYN-IR162-4 x MON-00810-6 x DAS-01507-1 and SYN-IR162-4 x MON-00810-6 x DAS-01507-1 x MON-00603-6.
The variety “0095-SOY-BR-2014” (01200.003581/2014-51) is a GMO soybean that is resistant to insects and tolerant to herbicides that contain new events. Other new procedures of "planned release in the environment" continue to be under analysis by the Commission.
At CTNBio's agenda there are still 18 procedures of commercial release for cultivars. Of those, three procedures have received a request for examination by Commission members. Therefore, the voting was postponed for a next meeting.
