Rotam to open vietnam office

Rotam CropSciences is expanding its presence within the Asia Pacific region with the opening of a new Vietnam office.

The region has been identified as strategically important for the crop protection firm’s growth. Asia Pacific Regional Head, Dr Bakthan said that Vietnam has one of the most important and rapidly developing rice export markets in the world. It is also a key player in the global supply of coffee and black pepper. “Vietnam is one of the top emerging, agriculturally focused countries in South East Asia. It is being supported by advancements to the country’s infrastructure and trading routes,” he said.

Dr. Bakthan added that crops are grown to high quality standards, yet must be produced at low residue levels. “Rotam’s crop protection solutions have benefitted from significant post-patent R&D investment, which have been developed to meet both user and end-market demand,” he explains.

Outlining Rotam’s commitment to the region, he explained that the company has future plans to strengthen its presence in the rapidly growing Asia Pacific region. This will see the company expand further into Thailand, Malaysia, Laos and Myanmar.

Rotam’s strategic focus is on growing the proprietary post-patent segment, which is forecast to account for 55% of the crop protection market by the end of 2014.

“We have invested heavily in a number of developments which will underpin a sustainable market position. And with this solid background, we aim to enter the Vietnamese premium market segment which accounts for $500 million worth of the market,” comments Dr Bakthan.
 
As demonstrated by the opening of the new regional office, there is a high level of confidence that Rotam will go from strength to strength in this region. “We have a strong product portfolio designed to tackle a range of pests, weeds and crop diseases, and have many more in development.”
