Morgan Seeds and Biotechnology, the commercial brand of Dow AgroSciences in Brazil, launched two corn hybrids in the country. The transgenic cultivars MG300 and MG580 are indicated for high investment crops in region of high altitude in the southern Brazil.

MG300 is a super-young hybrid and has an excellent productive stability that offers more security to the farmer even in adverse condition. And MG580 is a hybrid of early cycle that is also adapted to the characteristics of climate and soil of west of Santa Catarina State, according to the company's statement.

The launch relies on Powercore™ technology, which acts through five genes made to increase productivity. "With three different Bt proteins inserted, Powercore™ brings multiple modes of action that allow the control of the main pests of corn such as the fall armyworm (Spodoptera frugiperda), sugarcane borer (Diatraea saccharalis), cotton bollworn (Helicoverpa zea), lesser cornstalk borer (Elasmopalpus lignosellus), dark sword-grass (Agrotis ipsilon) and southern armyworm (Spodptera eridania). The technology also offers tolerance to the herbicides glufosinate and glyphostate, which allows a flexible management, optimizing the machinery and spraying labor, explained by Morgan.
