Cheminova announced that Topguard® Terra (flutriafol) fungicide is now registered by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for use by cotton growers to control cotton root rot. State registrations are underway.
Under past EPA Section 18 Emergency Use Exemptions, Texas, Oklahoma and Arizona cotton growers have used Topguard for the control of cotton root rot, a disease that can devastate cotton yields in affected fields.
Topguard Terra, a new, more concentrated formulation developed specifically for this market, provides the same high level of cotton root rot control as Topguard, but without the need of a Section 18 Emergency Use Exemption, says Deneen Sebastian, marketing director, North America for Cheminova.
“With Topguard Terra, cotton growers can win the battle against cotton root rot,” says Sebastian. “Southwest growers have seen for themselves that flutriafol, the active ingredient in Topguard and in Topguard Terra, controls cotton root rot—boosting yields, improving grade and increasing harvest efficiency.”
Topguard Terra is applied at planting in a T-band application or with a Modified In-Furrow technique.
