The European Commission has approved Mitsui AgriScience’s biofungicide
Bacillus amyloliquefaciens subsp.
plantarum strain D747, as a foliar spray to table and wine grapes for the control of
Botrytis cinerea. The representative formulated product is ‘CX 9030’ a water dispersible granule formulation (WG) containing 5x10
13 CFU/kg of D747, which was isolated from the atmosphere in Japan in 2000. The approval will be effective on April 1
st 2015, and expire on March 31
st 2025. EU notes that Member States shall pay particular attention to the protection of operators and workers, taking into account that strain D747 is to be considered as a potential sensitizer.
