Rafaela, Santa Fe province of Argentina, will be the first city to have an agrochemical recycling containers. The project has two objectives: to eliminate the highly polluting elements, and simultaneously obtain materials that can be reused.
This is an initiative of the Ministry of Agriculture with the support of the city hall and the National Institute of Agricultural Technology (Inta). The project will also be supported by the National Institute of Industrial Technical that will use the collected packages (highly contaminating) with reusable raw materials. The plastic obtained will be commercialized according to local law for products such as boxes that cover electric cables, truck fenders, optical fiber, and other transit elements.
"What is known is triple washing eliminates 99% of what is toxic. Therefore, in a first step we will take all the packages in a big warehouse to wash, and then start the process of reuse," explained by Punto Biz Cristian León, an agronomist at Rafaela's unit of Inta.
A recycling plant was built in the western pearl using the knowhow of the city in this issue. Receiving centers of agrochemicals were built in five departments such as San Cristóbal, Castellanos, Las Colonias, San Jerónimo and San Javier. The province has made studies on the environmental impact and worked with the logistics.
