Cheminova’s proprietary pyrethroid product gamma-cyhalothrin has recently been voted for approval at EU-level. This approval provides a valuable foothold for future maintenance and development of the company’s business. As part of the approval process, the evaluation of potential impact on human health and the environment has now been successfully completed.
Cheminova have successfully been selling gamma-cyhalothrin products under the trade names Nexide, Vantex and Cooper all over the world since 2000, and also in EU member states since 2009 based on national authorizations. It is a very efficient pyrethroid insecticide with an application rate of only a few grams per hectare. The main uses are in row crops such as corn, oilseed rape and cereals where it is a valuable tool for control of sucking and chewing insect pests.
Gamma-cyhalothrin is a so called single isomer pyrethroid. Cheminova have developed a synthesis method which enables the company to produce only the single active form of the molecule. When using this gamma-cyhalothrin growers avoid spraying inactive isomers – this means less chemistry to the environment.
Our end-use product is a capsule suspension (CS-formulation) which gives a good user profile compared to some of the other pyrethroid products. The formulation is based on the company’s know-how within formulation technology.
