Chinese firm Shijiazhuang Xingbai Bioengineering Ltd. recently received the national registration for 96% flucarbazone TC from the Institute for the Control of Agrochemicals, MOA (ICAMA), China, valid until November 2019. Xingbai is the first domestic company to obtain this registration. Previously, Arysta North America gained the approval of 95% flucarbazone TC in China. Developed by Bayer, flucarbazone belongs to the ALS-inhibiting herbicides. This product can be absorbed through plant roots and leaves and is systemic.
In 2000, Bayer brought it to the US and Canadian market, particularly for the control of wild oats and green foxtail in wheat. In 2003, Bayer divested it to Arysta, with its sales improving consistently year on year. In 2008, Arysta introduced this product for pre-plant burndown in winter and spring wheat in US under the mane Pre-Pare. After that, Arysta launched Everest (flucarbazone + fluroxypyr) in Canada for grass and broadleaf control in spring wheat in 2010. Under the agreement, Arysta supplied Syngenta with flucarbazone, which the company marketed as Sierra, for use in wheat, gaining US approval for the product in 2011. In 2011 Arysta introduced the product as a combination with fluroxypyr called Raze in the Indian market. The sales performance of flucarbazone in 2012 was $115 million.
