UK withdraws products containing ioxynil

The UK Chemicals Regulation Directorate (CRD) has decided to withdraw six professional plant protection products containing ioxynil from the EU market because ioxynil has not been supported for renewal of approval under Regulation (EC) No 1107/2009. The six products are Bronx, from AgChemAccess; Shamseer-2, from DAPT Agrochemicals and Mextrol-Biox, Oxytril CM, Stellox, Totril, from Bayer CropScience.
The existing EU approval of ioxynil expires on 28 February 2015 and products for sale and supply must stop by August 31st, 2015, while products may continue to be disposed, stored and used until August 31st, 2016.
Ioxynil, a nitrile herbicide, is used for post-emergence control of annual broad-leaved weeds.
