US EPA has received application from Dow AgroSciences for an experimental use permit (ESP) to test MON 87411, alone and in combination with other traits in corn to generate data and information that is intended to support future registration applications. MON 87411 contains Cry3Bb1 protein for the control of corn rootworms. Other traits that will be tested includes MON89034 (Cry1A.105 + Cry2Ab2), MON88017 (Cry3Bb1), TC1507 (Cry1F) and DAS59122 (Cry34Ab1 + Cry35Ab1).
The proposed experimental program would begin on January 1, 2015, and go until March 31, 2016; would take place on 9,038 acres in 15 states and Puerto Rico; and would use 8,720.37 grams of active ingredient. Trial protocols will concentrate on seed development for future testing, nursery observations in various genetic backgrounds, phenotypic and agronomic observations, efficacy and yield benefits, and regulatory studies.
