Syngenta is to invest R$ 100 million in expanding its manufacturing facility of Elatus fungicide in Paulínia, São Paulo. Launches in Brazil in March this year, Elatus (benzovindiflupyr and azoxystrobin) was developed to combat Asian rust on soybeans, and is considered the principle launch of the company in the last ten years.

Elatus is manufactured through the technology named "Pepite", unprecedented for Brazil. Instead of having a liquid form, the product is composed of granules with high dissolution. According to Syngenta, the procedure brings more safety and convenience during the spraying.

Other advantage of the solid form is that the blockade action and the elimination of the pathogenic fungus happens in only 48 seconds after spraying. "This technology will ease the farmer's life because it brings an efficiency on rust control without parallels in the market," said Laércio Giampani, general director at Syngenta Brazil.

David Gomes, production director for Latin America at Syngenta, explained that "this investment strengthens the company's confidence on the success of this technology and the consolidation of our factory in Paulínia, which is considered a model in terms of quality and safety operation worldwide".

In order to start the local production of Elatus, the company will build a structure 100% integrated in all the product chain - from the formulation to packaging. Nearly 200 people will work on the construction of the new plant and 40 new jobs will be created permanently.  It is expected that the operation will start in 2015 and the first production deliveries in early 2016.
