The Brazilian National Agricultural Research Company (Embrapa) has prepared the launch of the a biological control agent against fall armyworms (
Spodoptera frugiperda). The pest is one of the main threats in Brazil to crops such as corn, soybeans, kidney beans, and cotton, and have shown insecticide resistance and even GM seeds. The
S. frugiperda baculovirus-based product is at the final stage of development and expected to be launched in late 2015 or early 2016.
