To help simplify weed control for roadside managers, Bayer Environmental Science announced the launch of Derigo™ – a broad spectrum, post-emergent herbicide that offers a new level of versatility for warm-season vegetation management on roadsides.
Roadside managers struggle to choose from a vast number of available products they can use in combination as part of their treatment program. With the availability of Derigo, managers can now use one product that has a broad spectrum of control. This enables them to increase the efficiency of their treatment program to achieve time, labor and cost savings while reducing risk for motorists. Controlling noxious weeds is important to preserving safe, healthy and visually pleasing roadsides, as well as well-maintained features such as pavements and drainage systems.
“We developed Derigo to help roadside managers simplify their operation by reducing the number of products needed to achieve their desired level of weed control,” said Matt Nespeca, head of the Bayer IVM business. “Fewer products and treatments translate to cost savings to help their budgets go farther.”
Derigo controls many invasive grasses and broadleaf weeds while promoting healthy grass cover. It can be used on many desirable warm-season grasses including bermudagrass, zoysiagrass, and centipedegrass. Derigo is effective against more than 30 species of undesirable grasses, including johnsongrass, vaseygrass, marestail, dogfennel and giant foxtail, as well as more than 100 broadleaf weeds. It also provides seed head and plant growth suppression benefits on bahiagrass, while encouraging healthy growth of desirable grass types. This helps roadside managers reduce mowing intervals by providing a low-growing crop of southern roadside grasses. With an unmatched utility spectrum, Derigo controls invasive weeds that compete with native grasses for resources, helping to create an improved roadside ecosystem.
