Bayer showcases newest food chain partnership projects

Bayer’s commitment to sustainable agriculture is demonstrated by the company’s Food Chain Partnership. With nearly 240 projects in 30 countries around the world, spanning 40 crops, the Food Chain Partnership approach unites growers, traders, processors and retailers to develop integrated crop solutions that adhere to sustainable agricultural principles with the common goal of producing large quantities of high-quality, affordable and nutritious food.

From October 17 – 19, Bayer CropScience will showcase its latest global Food Chain Partnership projects at the PMA Fresh Summit Convention & Expo, a yearly conference that brings together decision makers at every level of the produce supply chain. These collaborations are tailored to the individual needs of the partners involved and benefit each one in the following ways:

-Growers: Bayer CropScience supports the production of fruits and vegetables, helping growers to meet the demands of today’s consumers. With customized, integrated solutions based on quality seeds, effective traditional and biological crop protection products, and services, Bayer makes a key contribution to sustainable agriculture.

-Importers and exporters: Bayer CropScience applies its country-specific expertise on maximum residue levels (MRLs) to help growers meet these standards and enable global trade.

-Processors and retailers: The increased traceability and transparency provided by the Food Chain Partnership allows processors and retailers to identify weak spots in the supply chain and build up consumer confidence in their produce.

“To continue to meet the needs of our growers, we must first understand the needs of the food value chain and those consumers at the very end of it,” said Silke Friebe, head of global Food Chain Management at Bayer CropScience. “Having this understanding allows us to provide growers with the tools to meet those needs, from planting to harvest and storage.”

“Bayer CropScience is focused on providing growers with new technology and expertise in seeds and crop protection,” said Rob Schrick, strategic business management lead for horticulture at Bayer CropScience. “That’s why we’re putting more than a billion dollars a year into research and continually providing new products that improve the health, quality and yield of crops.”

During Fresh Summit, representatives from Bayer CropScience will discuss the Food Chain Partnership’s impact on the produce market, as well as the wide range of solutions available to fruit and vegetable growers. The Bayer exhibit, will showcase the core offerings in its integrated crop solutions program, including seeds, crop protection and services. These solutions help enable growers to improve productivity, crop yield and quality in a sustainable way, providing consumers with the superior, nutritious and tasty fruits and vegetables they expect year-round.
