USDA to ok Monsanto’s Xtend crops

The USDA’S Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) has extended the comment period on its draft environmental impact statement(EIS) of Monsanto’s Xtend™ crops (MON 87708 soybean and MON 88701 cotton). APHIS now will accept comments through October 10th. Xtend soybean and cotton have been engineered to be resistant to the herbicide dicamba. The EIS previously issued was until September 25th.
