Valent U.S.A. Corporation announced that Fierce® XLT Soybean Herbicide is now federally registered for preemergence weed control in soybeans in the United States.

Fierce XLT eliminates the guesswork of weed management for soybean growers by offering the broadest spectrum control of weeds and annual grasses, including large and small-seeded broadleaves, as well as common and giant ragweed. Plus, only Fierce XLT delivers up to eight weeks of residual control, so growers can buy the most time before a post-herbicide application.

The launch of Fierce XLT brings a much-needed solution to soybean growers in the Midwest, who face a variety of weed management challenges each year.

"Fierce XLT is the premium residual herbicide for higher weed pressure in the Midwest," said Dr. John Pawlak, product development manager for Valent. "With three modes of action and up to eight weeks of control, Fierce XLT is an extremely important tool for soybean growers fighting tough, yield-robbing weeds like Palmer amaranth and waterhemp."

"From the spectrum of weeds it controls to the length of residual, Fierce XLT simplifies weed management," said Gary Schaefer, senior manager, row crops for Valent. "Fierce XLT is the latest addition to a broad portfolio of herbicide solutions from Valent that delivers on soybean growers’ specific needs across geographies in the U.S."

Fierce XLT joins a strong lineup of soybean herbicide products from the Valent family of products: Valor® Herbicide, Valor XLT Soybean Herbicide, Fierce Herbicide, Cobra® Herbicide, Phoenix™ Herbicide, Resource® Herbicide and Select Max® Herbicide with Inside Technology™.

Fierce XLT is federally registered by the Environmental Protection Agency, with anticipated availability for the 2015 growing season.
