Based in China, Shandong Binnong Technology Ltd. launched agricultural extension service of garlic field herbicides recently in Henan province. The company’s marketing department introduced garlic yield increase and rational pesticide application to farmers, as well as herbicide metolachlor, one of the key products launched by the company this year. The targeted markets include provincial area of Shangdong, Henan, Jiangsu and Anhui.
Being selective pre-emergence amide herbicide, metolachlor is used for control barnyard grass, crabgrass, setaria and etc. This herbicide can promote root growth and increase garlic yield by 15-20% per acre. Currently, only Binnong can successfully use this product on garlic.
In the garlic field of China, cheaper herbicide acetochlor has being widely used. However, if water logged in the field, acetochlor can infiltrate earth surface and damage garlic seeds.
This year, Binnong has launched a series of products based on the formulation of metolachlor, pendimethalin and oxyfluorfen. The company has not only raised the concentration of these active ingredients for more effective control, but also upgrade formulations for safe application.
