Biotrigo Genetics launched in Brazil its new wheat cultivar TBIO Toruk, during the 9th Technical Seminar of Wheat and the Meeting of the Brazilian Commission of Wheat and Triticale. With yields higher than the cultivars available in the market, the product will be released in January of 2015.
Originating from crossing with French cultivar, Toruk has the shortest size on average, excellent uniformity and synchrony of tillers, which improves the yields and eases the application of fungicides. Other benefit is the tolerance to blast disease.
"It is a revolution that we bring to wheat growers in Brazil and Latin America. When we observe in more detail the tillers and uniformity we see important advantages over other cultivars. The yield result makes it one of the products to be launched", commented Andre Rosa, the brand's business director.
