Syngenta Canada Inc. announced the addition of SY4157 to its growing canola portfolio. A high-yielding Genuity® Roundup Ready® canola hybrid rated R (resistant) for blackleg, SY4157 is best suited for mid-to-long-season growing zones across Western Canada.
“Syngenta is excited to introduce this new canola hybrid to western Canadian growers,” stated Duane Johnson, Head, Western Commercial Business Unit, Syngenta Canada. “SY4157 is a high-yielding canola variety with strong agronomic performance that includes built-in disease resistance and glyphosate-tolerant weed management options.”
In extensive public and private trials, SY4157 consistently demonstrated very good early-season vigour, strong blackleg resistance and excellent lodging scores.
SY4157 is the third variety in the company’s canola seed portfolio, which was launched in October 2012. Like flagship varieties SY4135 and SY4114, this new canola hybrid offers a unique combination of elite genetics and trait technology.
“As part of our commitment to enhance profitability of western Canadian growers, Syngenta is focused on providing high-value canola products and services. SY4157 is another product that will help deliver on that commitment,” said Dave Sippell, Head of Diverse Field Crops, North America. “We will continue to commercialize top-performing hybrids that meet grower and market needs.”
SY4157 will be available for sale in limited quantities this fall for 2015 seeding.
