Sumitomo Chemical's Health & Crop Sciences sales up 25% in FY 2013

Sumitomo Chemical’s Health & Crop Sciences section sales were up by 24.5% to ¥326,967 million ($3219 million at current rate) for FY 2013 ended on March 31, 2014. Operating income increased by 45.3% to ¥38,184 million ($375.9 million).
Health & Crop Sciences segment includes crop protection chemicals, fertilizers, feed additives, household and public hygiene insecticides, and active pharmaceutical ingredients and intermediates.
In the area of crop protection chemicals, shipments of herbicides and other products rose in overseas markets due to increased production capacity and sales expansion. The correction of the yen’s appreciation had a positive effect on sales from overseas subsidiaries in yen terms.
