China's agchem production dropped 9.2% in May 2014

China’s agrochemical production dropped 9.2% year-on-year to 297,000 tons in May 2014. The volume of pesticide production from Jan to May slightly increased 2.9% to 1,496,000 tons compared to the same period last year, according to National Bureau of Statistics of China (NBS).
 
In May, Fungicide production recorded 32.9% growth to 21,000 tons. Production of insecticide and herbicide declined 18.9% and 18.0% to 49,000 and 132,000 tons respectively.
 
From Jan to May, fungicide production increased by 21.1% to 84,000 tons, making up 5.6% of the total production. Insecticide was up 6.2% to 266,000 tons,representing 17.8% of the total production volume. Herbicide went down 2.5% to 693,000 tons, accounting for 46.3% of the total production volume.
 
Jiangsu was the largest production province with an output of 88,400 tons, followed by Shandong with 66,300 tons and Zhejiang with 27,700 tons.
