The US EPA has received a specific exemption request from the Texas Department of Agriculture to use the herbicide propazine to treat up to 3,000,000 acres of cotton to control glyphosate-resistant Palmer amaranth. The applicant proposes the use of a pesticide that contains the active ingredient propazine, which belongs to the triazine class of herbicides. EPA is soliciting public comment before making the decision whether or not to grant the exemption.
The public comments have been opened until July 3, 2014.
