Spain exceptionally approved 1,3 - dichloropropene for strawberry

On 2nd June 2014, the Spanish Ministry of agriculture, food and the environment has exceptionally authorized the sales of formulated products containing 1,3 - dichloropropene for use in soil disinfection before the transplantation of Strawberry.
Products formulated based on 1,3 - dichloropropene, have been used in the replacement of methyl bromide in crops as a soil disinfectant.

For this reason, the General Direction of Agriculture and Livestock Production, proceeded to temporarily authorize the use of formulated products containing 1.3 - dichloropropene, between 2nd June 2014 and 9th July 2014, to be used in soil disinfection prior to transplantation, within the strategy of Integrated Control in the Specific Regulation for the strawberry production in Andalusia (South of Spain).

Its usage must take into consideration the conditions referred to, in the corresponding registry sheets.
