China’s agchem production declined 2.6% in Apr 2014

China’s agrochemical production declined 2.6% year-on-year to 292,000 tons in Apr 2014. The country produced total 1,092,000 tons of pesticides from Jan to Aril, up 4.6% versus same period last year, according to National Bureau of Statistics of China (NBS).
In Apr, production of herbicide and insecticide declined 9.8% and 5.9% to 136,000 and 53,000 tons respectively. Fungicide production recorded 12.4% growth to 18,000 tons this month.
From Jan to Aril, fungicide production increased 18.4% to 63,000 tons, making up 5.5% of the total production. Insecticide production was up 8.7%, reaching 215,000 tons and accounted for 18.8% of the total. Herbicide was the largest portion with 48.9% and production slightly grew 1.6% to 558,000 tons.
