Chinese agrochemical company Fuhua Tongda Agro-chemical Technology recently received approval to carry out technological upgrading project in waste treatment from the Chinese Sichuan Provincial Environmental Protection Department. With Yuan 2 million ($320 thousand at the current rate) budget, this project includes suspending aqueous solution production line, transforming the 33% ammonium glyphosate aqueous solution production line and building a new 2,000 tonnes/day glyphosate mother liquid treatment plant.
At the project completion, the effects of pollutants on atmosphere, water and acoustic environment are expected to be better controlled.
With an annual production capacity of 120,000 tonnes, Fuhua Tongda is the largest glyphosate producer in China. The company is planning to construct another plant with 120,000 tonnes/a capacity, which is expected to be completed by the end of 2016.
