Indian Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University (CCSHAU), Hisar recently signed a MoU with a Hyderabad based company, Ganga Kaveri Seeds.
Under the agreement, the company has been granted a non-exclusive license for a period of five years for production and marketing of seed of two hybrids of maize namely HM-9 and HM-10 developed by the university.
This is the eighth MoU signed by the university for maize hybrids with Andhra Pradesh based seed companies.
Director of Research, SS Siwatch on behalf of the university and N Jagan Mohan Rao on behalf of the seed company signed the MoU.
Siwatch said that both the maize hybrids are high yielding. Whereas the average grain yield of HM-9 is 60 quintal per hectare, it is 72 quintal per hectare of HM-10. Besides, both the hybrids are resistant against major diseases.
