BRANDT, a leading manufacturer of agricultural specialty products, recently announced that it acquired an ownership stake in Fertinyect, S.A. Headquartered in Cordoba, Spain, Fertinyect is known for its patented low pressure tree injection (LPTI) systems for use in global agriculture and landscape markets to promote tree health. The product will be marketed in the US as BRANDT enTREE.

"We are excited about this technology and about creating a deeper partnership with Fertinyect," said Rick Brandt, President and CEO of BRANDT Consolidated, Inc. "We have been working with the technology in the US for almost two years and we see tremendous potential in all tree businesses from Ag to parks to L&G to forest environments."

The investment with Fertinyect is another business move that fits BRANDT's aggressive corporate strategy of providing superior and new technology products throughout the world. Earlier this year, BRANDT announced a joint venture with iHammer Technologies to gain access to unique glycoregulator technologies and the acquisition of Grigg Brothers, a worldwide leader in the turfgrass market.

The Fertinyect transaction gives BRANDT exclusive distribution and manufacturing rights for the use and sale of the injection device in the agricultural industry in the USA. Additionally, BRANDT was granted co-exclusive rights for use and sale of the device in the arboricultural (landscape/forestry) and home and garden markets.

Through the investment with Fertinyect, BRANDT will be able to deliver pesticides, nutrients and bio-stimulants to trees through a patented injection device that was developed at the University of Cordoba, Spain.

The investment will cement the product's presence in the USA while accelerating a more rigorous global launch of the highly efficient, environmentally-friendly tree injection system. Initial customers include the agriculture and aboriculture commercial applicators but will eventually include products for homeowner use.

"This transaction gives us the opportunity to build a more formidable presence in the USA while taking part in the global tree injection industry," explained Brandt. "We will be able to offer uniquely-performing, ready-to-use chemistries and nutrient products in a simple user-friendly device."

The Fertinyect investment will be managed as part of BRANDT's Specialty Formulations division, under the leadership of executive vice president Bill Engel.
