Chinese agrochemical company Henan Yingtai Agrochemical has recently been granted the registration approval for its herbicide 96% quinmerac technical from Chinese Institute for the Control of Agrochemicals, Ministry of Agriculture (ICAMA), with expiration date of 28, Jan 2019. As per
Chinese Pesticide Registration Watch, Henan Yingtai is the first Chinese company approved for Quinmerac technical in China.
The active ingredient quinmerac is a selective herbicide, aims to control
Galium aparine, Veronica spp. and other broad-leaved weeds in cereals, oilseed rape and sugar beet. It is primarily taken up via the roots and partially through leaves, and suppresses weed growing and eventually cause them to die. Moist conditions promote the uptake of the active ingredient, as well as the rapid onset of activity.
Quinmerac was first developed and introduced by BASF in 1993. It is mainly used as mixture with metazachlor for oilseed rape (Novall/Katamaran) and chloridazon for sugar beet (Rebell). In 2012, BASF registered quinmerac in a mixture with metazachlor and imazamox as Clearfield Vantiga in German, for use on Clearfield Canola. The active ingredient has approved the re-registration by EU.
The global sales of quinmerac in 2010 reached $ 140 million.
