The insecticide Atabron 50 CE (chlorfluazuron), distributed exclusively by Arysta LifeScience has been officially approved by the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (MAPA ) for Helicoverpa armigera caterpillar fighting in cotton and soybeans .
Chlorfluazuron is the benzoylphenylurea IGR insecticide. Discovered and developed by ISK in late 1980's, the product has been globally used under the trademark of Atabron for controlling lepidoptera on cotton, bean, vegetables and fruit trees.
"The main benefit of the product is to help farmers deal the natural enemies with a insecticide with different mode of action, which is essential to prevent the development of pest resistance." explains Sergio Chidi, product manager of Arysta LifeScience.
The caterpillar has spreaded throughout the country and has caused heavy losses to Brazilian farmers.
