Paraguay recently released the commercial use of Monsanto’s transgenic NK603 corn. After this measure, there are now five varieties of genetically-modified (GM) corn authorized for commercial crop in Paraguay.
It is worth mentioning that on 24 October 2012, the Government authorized four transgenic corn events, the VT Triple Pro and MON810, which belong to Monsanto; Syngenta’s BT11 and Dow AgroSciences’ TC1507, a unit of Dow Chemical.
With regard to transgenic soybean variety, on 11 February 2013, Paraguay authorized the commercial release of genetically-modified soy seeds containing the stacked events MON87701 x MON89788, known in the market as Monsanto’s “BtRR2Y soy or Intacta soy”, according to Resolution 153/13 of that State.
