Chinese Institute for the Control of Agrochemicals of Chinese Ministry of Agriculture (ICAMA) recently held a workshop on the subject of the pesticide adjuvant management, to discuss the necessity and feasibility of introducing pesticide adjuvant management list, as well as the criteria of the pesticide adjuvant classification management.
The participating experts considered that it is necessary to strengthen the pesticide adjuvant management to ensure the quality of pesticide, which is of great importance to the environmental safety, health of pesticide users and farm product consumers. It is well understood that it now become imperative to implement the pesticide adjuvant classification management.
A list of 12 banned adjuvants including chlorobenzene and 78 restricted adjuvants including methanol and dimethylbenzene was formulated, so was the criteria of pesticide adjuvant classification management. In the meantime participants studied and discusses the pesticide adjuvant classification management measures in US, Canada, Australia, EU and Taiwan.
In the next step, the relevant authorities will conduct a further analysis on the status of applications of pesticide adjuvants in China to complete the preparation of the adjuvant prohibition and restriction management proposal, which is expected to be turned into a pesticide adjuvant classification management regulation after a full reasoning process and hearing public opinions.
