The US biopesticide company Marrone Bio Innovations(MBI)is wrapping up 2013 on a significant high note. The company is announcing that it has passed the 1,000,000 treated acre milestone in the U.S. for its biopesticide products, Grandevo® bioinsecticide and Regalia® and Regalia® Rx biofungicides.
Hector Absi, MBI’s Senior Vice President, Commercial Operations, puts the accomplishment in perspective, “Reaching the million acre level validates that our products continue to bring value to growers across the US. Most of these acres are in high value specialty crops, but also includes acres of our recent launch of Regalia Rx in row crops. It confirms that our products are meeting the demands of the marketplace and are being included in growers’ standard spray programs year after year.”
However, he goes on to add that a new product introduction in 2013 did help push them over the top. “We saw a significant increase in treated acres this year with the limited introduction of Regalia Rx in the corn and soybean markets. Those acres combined with the growing number of Florida citrus acres treated with Grandevo bioinsecticide for Asian citrus psyllid provided the final push we needed to get to 1,000,000 acres.”
With increased distribution for Regalia Rx in the Midwest and the introduction of a new insecticide planned for 2014 Absi provides this final comment, “these achievements continue to give us confidence that we can deliver against our objectives and continue to meet the needs of growers with a complete portfolio of innovative biological solutions.”
