China Shandong Huayang's"high-content pendimethalin production process"awarded

Chinese agrochemical company Shandong Huayang Technology Group recently received the “Science & Technology Advancement Award” for its “1,500-ton high-content pendimethalin production process”. Following to the initiation of the production process in 2009, the output of pendimethalin technical and formulation in 2012 reached respectively 1,287 tons and 3,030 tons.

It is said that the process uses 4-nitro-o-xylene as raw material and changes the mixed acid nitration into nitric acid nitration while built-in micro-porous internal circulation reactor and phase transfer catalyst are adopted, thus raising the synthesized technical content from 90% to above 97% to have reached a yield of 88.2%.

Additionally the process enables pendimethalin to be treated together with chlorpyrifos waste water where the biological degradability of waste water is improved via Fenton oxidation and catalysis oxidation techniques.

The process has been authorized a national invention patent and a utility patent.
