The CODEX Committee on Pesticide Residues (CCPR) recently held an appraisal meeting to assess the pesticides proposed for use on ginseng, organized by Chinese Institute for the Control of Agrochemicals, Ministry of Agriculture (ICAMA).
At the meeting a total of 14 pesticides were approved for use on ginseng, including thiamethoxam, fludioxonil, cyprodinil, difenoconazole, mancozeb, mancozeb+cymoxanil, propiconazole, copper oxychloride, iprodione, kresoxim-methyl, hymexazol, diethofencarb+carbendazim.
China has for long time shortages of legally registered pesticide for use in the Minor Crop, which causes unreasonable use of pesticide. Over recent years ICAMA has been actively promoting registrations of pesticide for use in ginseng and other minor crops, with relevant policies and regulations being set up, which paves the way for safe production of crops.
