The European Commission has announced to approve Chrysal International's plant growth regulator(PGR) active ingredient, sodium silver thiosulfate under the EU plant protection regulation (1107/2009). They will be formally included in Annex I on May 1, 2014 and will expire on April 30, 2024. The application for silver thiosulfate was submitted in 2003 to the Netherlands by Chrysal International (previously Dutch company Enhold).
The Commission requires that member states shall pay particular attention to the protection of operators and workers; limiting the possible release of silver ions through disposal of used solutions; the risk to terrestric vertebrates and soil invertebrates from the use of sewage sludge in agriculture.
