A new herbicide blend will allow Western Canadian cereal growers to really turn up the heat on their glyphosate burn-off this spring. New DuPont Express PRO herbicide will deliver superior, extended control of some of the toughest broadleaf weeds, including several weeds that escape glyphosate alone.
“More and more growers are using a pre-seed burn-off to get a head-start on their weed control,” says Jon Gough, DuPont product manager for cereals. “Glyphosate alone may not give them adequate control on tough weeds like dandelion, narrow-leaved hawk’s-beard or volunteer Roundup Ready canola. Express PRO will provide growers with the additional pre-seed weed control they need to plant into a cleaner seedbed and get their crops off to a better start.”
Newly registered DuPont Express PRO herbicide offers powerful weed control that was specifically designed for use as non-crop weed control pre-seed to wheat (spring, durum and winter) and barley, for use in chem-fallow and post-harvest prior to wheat and barley.
Express PRO will provide extended control of key broadleaf weeds including dandelion, narrow-leaved hawk’s beard and volunteer Roundup Ready canola for up to 15 days following application.
“It’s the outstanding control from Express PRO that will make growers sit up and take notice,” says Gough. “It delivers results that go far beyond what can be achieved by simply applying more glyphosate and the extended control will help growers manage second flushes of some key problem weeds.”
Express PRO combines two active ingredients using patented homogenous blend technology from DuPont. They act in synergy to provide powerful broadleaf weed control. When Express PRO is tank-mixed with L equivalent of glyphosate, growers get control of broadleaf weeds from two herbicide groups, namely Groups 2 and 9. That means growers get an excellent resistance management tool from their non-crop weed control.
“Growers have come to count on Express SG, which is now the most widely used herbicide added to glyphosate in non-crop applications,” says Gough. “With Express PRO, growers now have a second tool for outstanding non-crop weed control. Depending on their key weed targets, agronomic requirements or cropping plans, growers can now choose between new Express PRO and Express SG.”
Express PRO is powered by Solumax soluble granules, so it dissolves completely in solution for fast and easy sprayer cleanout and fast, effective and consistent weed control results.
Growers can seed wheat (spring, durum and winter) and spring barley 24 hours after application. They can rotate to canola or peas 10 months after spraying. Growers are limited to one application of Express PRO per year.
