Chinese agrochemical company Anhui Fengle Agrochemical has been granted the registration approval for its herbicide 80% propyzamide WDG from Institute for the Control of Agrochemicals, Ministry of Agriculture (ICAMA). As per Chinese Pesticide Registration Watch, China has not approved any propyzamide technical or other formulated products before.
The selective systemic herbicide propyzamide has an apoplastic translocation activity. It could be absorbed by plants’ roots and interfere the mitosis of the plants‘ cell. Propyzamide provides selective control of many annual and perennial grasses, and some broad-leaved weeds, used mainly on fruit and vegetables in the USA and oilseed rape and vine in Europe either pre-emergence or early post-emergence.
Propyzamide was first introduced by Rohm & Haas Co. in 1969. Dow incorporated it into its portfolio after the acquisition of Rohm &Haas. Propyzamide has achieved re-registration in the E.U. in 2003, and has approval extended to the end of January 2017 in 2012. Propyzamide received its first generic registrations in U.K as Solitaire and Setanta by Irish company AgriGuard in 2009.
