Fishcat Farm captures the waste from their catfish production raceways and decomposes the fish manure with oat straw in a special process that creates a moist putty-like substance. The product can be applied as a solid or can be mixed with water to create a homogeneous mixture of microscopic suspended particles of organic matter, nutrients and microbial life. The mixture can be immediately applied to farm crops, lawn or garden by pouring or spraying using a hose end sprayer or tractor mounted pressure sprayer. No lengthy brewing, special brewers or additional microbe activators are needed. The product is sold as Fishnure.
Fishcat Farm produces catfish in automated raceways. The solid waste from a high protein diet excreted by the fish is captured and removed quickly from the water before nutrients can leach from the waste. The fish manure and oat straw create the proper nitrogen to carbon ratio for optimum decomposition. A small amount of special clay from the rich soil of the Mississippi Delta is added during the decomposition of the manure and straw. The organic substances and nutrients bind to the microscopic clay particles creating a uniform moist substance. The microbes remain active in the moist environment of the final product. The resulting Fishnure? product has no fishy smell. A major feature of the product is its ease of use and low cost per treatment. For example, 1 pound when mixed in water and applied using a hose end sprayer will treat 7,000 sq. ft. of lawn.
Unlike regular compost the organic matter that is bound to the microscopic clay particles in Fishnure? will not decompose further and will remain in the soil and increase the total organic matter. Increased organic matter in the soil will increase fertility, water retention, water absorption, microbial life and all the other benefits of good fertile soil.
Fishnure is an excellent organic fertilizer for providing nutrients for farm crops, gardens, patio, lawn or vegetable plants. It is an easy to use and economical alternative to composts that require much more product per sq. ft and to chemical products that damage the environment. The product provides long lasting benefits to the soil rather than the short benefits from chemical fertilizers.
