China granted its first MbNPV bio-insecticide

Chinese agrochemical company Yichun Xinlong Chemicals has recently been granted the registration approval by Institute for the Control of Agrochemicals, Ministry of Agriculture (ICAMA) for its mamestra brassicae multiple NPV (MbNPV) technical. The registration made Yichun Xinlong Chemicals the first company to obtain the MbNPV registration in China. The company has already registered MbNPV SC for the control of cabbage diamondback moth and cotton bollworm prior to it.

MbNPV is an eco-friendly microbial insecticide with advantages of broad spectrum and high efficiency. It has better control against a variety of lepidopteran pests and leave human, animals and the environment intact.

MbNPV is first discovered in Japan as the main pathogenic microorganisms in mamestra brassicae. Since then MbNPV has successfully been used to control cabbage moth in Russia and France, and developed as commercial product for agriculture practice. The MbNPV SC named with KangBang is the first product based on MbNPV in China.

China has currently registered 27 kinds of microbial pesticide with about 300 products in total. The major commercialized varieties is Bacillus thuringiensis, bacillus subtilis, and bacillus cereus. Newly registered products includes LNPV, MbNPV，empedobacter brevis, and Trichoderma sp.
