Chinese agrochemical company Jiangsu Agrochem Laboratory has recently been granted registration by Institute for the Control of Agrochemicals, Ministry of Agriculture (ICAMA) for its herbicide 50g/L florasulam SC. The product is approved for use on annual broadleaf weeds in winter wheat field. Four companies including Jiangsu Agrochem Laboratory, Shandong United Pesticide Industry,YongNong Biosciences, and Rainbow Chemical have already registered florasulam technical product before.
Florasulam was first developed by Dow Agroscience for broad-spectrum control on broad leaf weed in cereals with multiple applications. The triazolopyrimidine herbicide was introduced in Belgium in 1999, and Japan, U.K and France in 2000 as replacement for metosulam. Florasulam entered the markets in Canada, China, German, and other European and African countries in 2001. The active ingredient is used mainly in conjugation with other grass weed partners, e.g. clodinafop, pinoxaden, fenoxaprop, flucarbazone, imazamethabenz and quinclorac.
